Sarai has been working with clay for over a decade and has studied under a variety of teachers around the world. She aims to make her classes an inclusive environment where everyone feels supported in finding the method of pottery that brings them the most joy.
Beginning Ceramics
This beginning ceramics class will introduce the basic elements of sculptural and functional clay within the tradition of making pottery. Students will learn the procedures of working with clay from beginning use of wet clay, through the various stages to completed, fired pieces. Techniques taught will include pinching, coil building, slab construction and the use of a wheel. Basics in tool use, glazing and firing will be included. Registration to this 8 week course includes 1 bag of clay (25 pounds) and a full level (2 kiln shelves) of finished, fired work. This class is reserved for adults who sign up for the class.
